On August 9, 2010 members of the Zanzibar House of Representatives discussed and overwhelmingly endorsed the island’s 10th constitutional amendment, which paves the way for the formation of the Government of National Unity (GNU) between rival parties after the October general elections.
This followed the referendum results held on July 31 adopted by 66.4 percent of voters to form the GNU after a long time political turmoil between CCM and CUF parties. Haroub Hussein Khamis interviwed some of the Islanders and get their opinion the coming government.
